The Numbers are in and Windows 8 is a FLOP
The numbers speak for themselves and Windows 8 has FAILED.
WinRT was DOA and never had a chance but the numbers for Win 8 are in and they are way worse than Vista.
I have an on again off again fascination with playing with a Surface Pro but with these numbers I’m not willing to go in on this OS. I use ChromeOS and a Chromebook mainly while the only thing I use my old Vista notebook for is downloading music from Amazon and then re-uploading it to Google Music… NOTHING else because EVERYTHING else I do is in the cloud.
No worries about viruses or cost to secure ChromeOS from viruses, No intrusive and long running updates, no need to buy an expensive office suite, No REASON to go in with Windows.
If you’re stuck on Windows though then your best bet is just waiting to see what comes later.
For me, I’m going to wait and see what comes out of Google I/O this year to see if there are more models of Chromebooks in the pipeline. If not then I’ll probably upgradeĀ to the Samsung Chromebook ($249) from my current 1st gen Acer Chromebook. That is the all around best Chromebook out right now and the number one selling notebook on Amazon over this past Christmas holiday.
I’m sure I’ll still feel the pull of the Surface Pro to play with it but as of right now it makes no sense to invest in a dead OS just for the fun of it.
